Townhouse at Rua da Boavista

Renovation of a 19th century house at Rua da Boavista, Porto. Surgical design project to adapt the building to the contemporary requirements of housing and the needs of the clients, with the minimum of intervention possible. The existing walls at the ground floor level were demolished at the back of the building to create a single large kitchen / living space. At the upper floor level the existing room, which occupies the entire width of the lot, was divided into two rooms. A wall was added to the north-facing room, the master bedroom, to create a dressing area and closet behind the headboard of the bed. The back balcony / solarium was rebuilt with the same layout and original finishes because it presented structural problems. Two bathrooms were created in the middle of the house, next to the stairwell, taking advantage of two interior compartments. The attic was renovated and turned into a playroom.
