Strategic house rehabilitation located in a rural area close to the city center of the Portuguese city of Coimbra. The construction of this project resulted from carefully curated “architectural acupuncture”. The intervention on this family home was performed within a strict budget, with very clear objectives, being able to attain the largest improvement with the minimal amount of alterations to the existing building plan.

Our intervention transformed a previously cold and ill distributed house (small kitchen, under-utilized living room, and disconnected spaces), that took little advantage of natural light and scenery, to a luminous home, warm and with a practical and confortable interior distribution (new service path, entryway mudroom to protect against cold weather, wider distribution areas and connection between rooms, a cozy new kitchen – made for a family who knows how to cook and share delicious meals).
